Welcome to 2W!

Hello 2W it was so good to meet you all today. I loved seeing all your faces after our long holiday. You all looked really smart in your new school uniform. I can’t wait for all the fun things we are going to be getting upto this year. For our very first golden time we’re going to have a golden time tea party with games and choosing activities. Have a go at writing a comment to say what you’re most looking forward to this year.

2 DIY

Here’s a reallllllllly quick game that I made using 2 DIY. When I was in London I saw some children using this software doing some fab stuff and we’re going to have a go at it this week to design our own games (your games will be so much better than my try). The best ones will be published on our blogsite.

Hello 2W

Hello 2W from London. I hope you have had a lovely day! I have been looking at lots of exciting ICT things and can’t wait to use a few of them with you. Well enjoy your day tomorrow and I will see you all on Monday.

Love from, Mr. Ward

p.s. Don’t forget to take the guinea pigs home Sam and I hope you have a lovely time with them.

Write a sticky note!

I came across this ‘cool tool’ for our blogsite called wallwishers. Click ‘post a sticky’ to write a comment. Write what you would really like for this week’s golden time for everyone to see. It might not show up on the blog site straight away as I will have to approve it first (to check it only says nice things!).

Fun in the snow!

Hi guys, I hope you are having fun in the snow, because it’s so much fun you can have tomorrow off as well! Elle helped me to make this snowman. If you have made a snowman or have been playing in the snow send a picture to aintreedavenhill@googlemail.com and I will put it on our site. Have fun and I hope to see you on Thursday.

P.S. If you’re getting a bit too cold playing in the snow and want something to do, there are loads of good resources you can use on this website http://www.ictgames.com

Hello Everybody!

Hello and happy New Year. I hope you are having a fantastic holdiay. Did Santa stop at your house this year? Well I must have been a good boy because I got lots of lovely presents. My favourite was the Lets Dance game for the wii. I have had lots of fun playing this with my family and friends (perhaps I’ll bring it school and we can have a go on it!) Let me know what your favourite present was. Well enjoy the rest of the holiday and I’m looking forwards to seeing you on Monday.

Our Trip to the North Pole

We recieved a letter from our friend James from the Snowman story telling us he had left his scarf in the North Pole. We had a number of jobs to do before we set off to retrieve the scarf including desiging a new reindeer food for Rudolph and making some decorations for out party in the North Pole. Have a look at some pictures of when we went to the North Pole. Click here.

2W update

We have had a busy few weeks in 2W.  We have started to rehearse for our Christmas play (you’re all in for a treat). Next week we are going to the library to research owls and other nocturnal animals so remember to bring your library cards in. Next Monday we will have a visit from some birds of prey including owls and falcons, how exciting!

P.s. thanks Luke for letting me borrow your Michael Jackson CD I have enjoyed dancing to it this weekend!

Puppet Making

Tomorrow will be our DT day. We have designed and now we are going to make our Owl hand puppets. First we will need to cut out the material then we will have to sew them together. Once we have made our puppets we are going to write instructions about we made them.

Star of the week

Well done to Andrew who recieved this week’s achievement certificate for trying really hard to improve his carpet sitting. Congratulations to Ellie for getting a certificate from the welfare staff for being kind and helpful.

Bonfire Poems

bonfire-011

This week we were looking at bonfire poems and wrote our own:

I can see flames.

They are swirling and twirling.

They are red, orange and golden yellow.

They are smokey and spitting.

Have a go at your own poem;

I can see flames

They are…

They are…

They are…

We recorded our own bonfire sound effect and posted it on to our radiowaves site.

Our Trip to the Maritime Museum

This week we had our visit to the Maratime Museum. When we arrived at the Albert Docks the children were put into their groups and Mrs. McDermott took her group off whilst Mr. Ward took his group to have a look athe Slavery Exhibtion. Some of the children were really shocked to see how the slaves were treated many years ago. After this we experienced how life was to be a pirate. We learned that their living conditions were not very nice and you had to go to the toilet in a bucket (sometimes the buckets would fall over!) After this it was time for our lunch! In the afternoon we walked around the docks and had a look at some of the ships. We tried to remember some of the parts of the ship that Captain Emma taught us in the morning. We all had a great day! What was your favourite part of the day?

Well done Ben!

Congratulations Ben you are our star of the week for fab writing.

We have had another busy week in 2W. We wrote our own comics using our super heroes that we invented. We used all the features of a comic including speech bubbles, pictures, text boxes and onomatopoeia!!

We have been practising using money in our maths and on Thursday we went to Tesco Express to solve some moeny problems and spend our 5ops.

We has a message from Captain Cook himself to investigate what is the best material for his coat. It needed to be strong and waterproof. We discovered that plastic was the best, although it probably wouldn’t be very warm!

Next week we will be visiting the library to borrow a book so remember to bring your library cards in on Thursday.
